Courageous Conversations - Mini Series
In Collaboration with Tanya Nock from Cultural Conversations Charity and funded by the Office of Ethnic Communities we produced and production designed this four-part mini series where a migrant gets to tell their story to an inquisitive local listener. The migrants have all faced challenging experiences as part of their relocation to Aotearoa.
We wanted to create a space which felt comfortable and calming to the participants so that they could settle in for an honest conversation between two strangers.
Cultural Conversations launched the series as part of the Tuku 22 Whakatū Heritage Month. It was played to audiences over two weekends and supported by an exhibition of photo portraits of the participants.
Courageous Conversations has gone on to live a life of its own, exhibiting at The Refinery art gallery and local libraries with one of the episodes since being translated into Spanish. It has also been released as a podcast produced by Fresh FM and the videos can now be viewed online.
